Trey Calloway, a singer/songwriter hailing from North Carolina, was steeped in the rich traditions of southern and contemporary gospel music from an early age. His formative years were marked by his involvement in church singing, a passion that was further ignited upon discovering country music through a Garth Brooks album. This pivotal moment led him to draw inspiration from renowned artists such as Clint Black, Alan Jackson, and Travis Tritt.
At the age of 15, Trey began writing songs, playing guitar, and performing in clubs. In 2016, he formed The Trey Calloway Band and started playing in the Eastern circuit and Nashville.
Trey recorded and released his debut album, “Carolina Man,” in Nashville. The album included 12 songs he wrote. His song “Home is Where the Heart Is” won the Carolina Country Music Awards (CCMA) Song of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year. He was also nominated for CCMA Male Artist of the Year in 2018 and 2023.
In 2022, his song “Tire Tracks” won the April CCMA Artist Showdown. In January 2020, Trey moved to Nashville and became a featured act at Alan Jackson’s Good Time Bar. He released an EP titled “Karaoke Cowboy” and a music video for his song “Heal this Family,” which won a Josie Music Award (JMA) for Social Impact Video of the Year in 2021. In 2022, he won JMAs for Songwriter Achievement and the Live Vocal Competition. In 2023, he won JMA Modern Country Song of the Year for “Worth A Shot” and received nominations in multiple categories. Trey also won the 2023 Texas Country Music Association Song of the Year for “One Tough Job” and has performed at various events and opened for musicians like Joe Diffie, Tracy Lawrence, and Pat Green. Since November 2021, Trey has released two EPs, 14 singles, and four music videos.
His latest release, ‘Forgotten Man,’ promises to be another testament to his musical prowess and creativity. “Forgotten Man” is a high-energy tribute to selfless individuals who give their all for others.
