Out of 20 contenders from across the country, the U.P. took the lead, outshining other famous fall spots like Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands, Arkansas’ Hot Springs, and New Hampshire’s White Mountains.

Spanning 16,538 square miles, the Upper Peninsula is characterized by its rugged wilderness, with 85% covered in lush forests. This region presents a breathtaking autumn panorama featuring vibrant shades of scarlet, amber, orange, and gold, framed by glistening lakes and winding rivers. Scenic drives, picturesque waterfalls, and 1,700 miles of Great Lakes shoreline enrich the experience further.
